Design/Sales Team lead

  • Joining the team as a designer after spending seven years seeing the world, Katie has now been with Mastercraft Kitchens Wellington for over a decade.

Having completed a Bachelor of Design (Interiors), Katie has been working as a designer for over 20 years both in New Zealand and overseas.

“One of the things I loved most about travelling was the diverse range of people I met along the way,” says Katie.

“I have found this also to be one of the most rewarding parts of my job as a designer.”

Held in very high regard within the industry, Katie prides herself on turning a client’s “wish list into reality”.

“I have been fortunate to work on a unique range of projects while I have been with Mastercraft.

“I really enjoy collaborating with clients and creating an enjoyable experience through the full journey from initial consultation to detailed planning.

“Ultimately, it is about understanding exactly what they want and finding solutions that make those dreams come true.”

  • Proudly Palmerston North born and raised, Liam came to Wellington to complete a Bachelor's Degree in Design Innovation specialising in Industrial Design and is now progressing a Diploma of Kitchen Design.

With a lifelong interest in building and design, he entered the industry four years ago and joined the Mastercraft Kitchens Wellington team at the start of 2022.

Liam says he relishes the “magic” of creativity in kitchen design.

“I love creative problem solving, drawing the concept out of the brain and then bringing it to life to delight the customer,” he says.

He takes great pride in designing bespoke kitchens that excel in both functionality and form.

“Having listened carefully to the client brief, it is about getting the nuts and bolts sorted first and then, once we've got a really solid structure in place, turning attention to the fun stuff!

“At the end of the day we're creating something special for someone else. Not only is it a financial commitment, it is also a time and even soul commitment – something that they will see, use and, we hope, show off every day over the next 20 or more years.”

  • Please note that Erin commenced maternity leave in early 2026.

Developing a strong work ethic growing up on her family’s commercial vegetable farm in Pukekohe, Erin earned a Bachelor’s Degree with Honours in Visual Communication Design before embarking on her OE.

Entering the kitchen design industry in 2019, Erin duly completed a Diploma of Kitchen Design before joining the Mastercraft Kitchens Wellington team in late 2022.

“I have relished finding a role which presents new challenges and opportunities for growth,” says Erin.

“I am passionate about each customer achieving a brand new kitchen that delivers on all aspects of their brief, and which also provides exceptional functionality and simply looks beautiful. It is awesome to go to the customer’s home and be able to see the completed job in all of its glory.”

Having created many exciting designs over the last few years, Erin says she finds it difficult to single out one favourite project.

“Our team and I put so much into every project, no matter how small or large it might be. When you see the design come to life and get a thrilled reaction from the customer, it is hugely satisfying.”

  • Born in Santiago (Chile), Maria came to New Zealand in 2017 having completed an Industrial Design Degree.

Joining the Mastercraft Kitchen Wellington Design Team at the start of 2024, she completed the New Zealand Diploma in Kitchen Design a year later.

“I have always had a passion for design and flair for colour, and love being able to find creative solutions to fully deliver on the customer brief,” says Maria.

“My experience in kitchen design and related industries helps me picture the overall look and provides a good understanding of how to bring it all to life.”

Maria considers her strengths also lie in keenly listening to her customers and ensuring communications are prioritised throughout the design process.

“Customers don’t always know exactly what they want and all customers are different, so you have to read between the lines.

“I enjoy listening, learning and gaining an in-depth understanding of their wishes and requirements, as we work together to create a wonderful outcome!”

  • Assisting the team during Erin’s maternity leave, experienced designer Danni has quickly made an impression in our front of house.

Danni has spent almost two decades in the industry, working in predominantly Australia and the United Kingdom in mainly the retail space. She has qualifications with the Chelsea Art and Design School (interior and set design focused) and is a certified designer with Kitchen Design Australia.

Initially commencing her career in the teaching/nannying field, Danni’s natural calling towards design and creativity soon saw her retrain.

“I’ve always had a creative streak and enjoy working closely with customers,” says Danni.

“I love seeing a client happy in their new kitchen. It is very satisfying to create a custom solution that is both within their budget but that also pushes the boundaries of an interesting design concept.”

Among many design highlights, Danni particularly recounts bringing contemporary style to a 150-year-old former shipkeeper’s cottage in Karori and opening up the kitchen views from a Roseneath home.

“At Roseneath, no-one had previously thought of removing the wall from their kitchen. And when the job was completed, the client was blown away and literally said ‘you have changed my life’.”
