Business improvements

Mastercraft Kitchens Wellington is progressing a number of internal initiatives aimed at streamlining our overall operation alongside maximising the wellbeing and safety of our work family. The end goal being that we should be able to deliver our projects quicker and more cost effectively, but at the same high levels of quality (or even better!).

Recent and/or ongoing developments include:

  • Adopting Lean manufacturing principles – including establishing a Lean Steering Committee with a number of our team also undertaking a New Zealand Certificate in Competitive Systems and Practices (Level 5) overseen by the Lean Hub

  • Deploying Jobman scheduling software

  • Rolling out a striking new website

  • Appointing long-serving staff member, Nigel Dickson, to the newly-created role of OSH and inwards goods manager

  • Recruiting experienced industry professional Nic Larsen as production manager

  • Increasing staffing in other areas

  • Replenishing our pool of first aiders and fire wardens

  • Forming a dedicated Health and Safety Committee and having five team members complete the Health and Safety Representative: Initial Certificate (Unit Standard 29315)

These initiatives are already delivering significant benefits – particularly by reducing waste and creating a tidier, safer and more-productive work environment – with greater gains expected as the new practices bed in further.

Ultimately, ever-improving internal processes and a happier work family will see us providing an even better experience for our valued customers.
