Describing his laundry as having been “completely reconfigured” as a space, Eastbourne house owner and architect Gary Doddrell says this room was probably the one in which Mastercraft Kitchens Wellington designer Katie brought the most input.
“The principals were there in terms of my design, but her introducing the veneered roller shutter as opposed to bifolds in a recess meant for a better use of the space and a slicker finish,” he says.
“I hadn't heard of that product and I hadn't seen it being quite so seamless, it's pretty cool.
“I was impressed also with the logistics of Mastercraft Kitchens Wellington making the joinery. There are so many things going on there – you’ve got a washing machine and dryer, extractor and drainage, window and all of the lighting hidden by the roller shutter. It's quite a lot to accommodate in a really small space, so they did well with that.
“Before it was mismatched, but now it’s compact and tidy, and there's a theme in the materials which ties it all together in a small house.
“There's definitely an intention to remove the clutter, have a space for everything and to be able to close things off so that visually it's quite a calm space to be in.”
